The Trapped Pigeon

In our apartment, there is an empty space between the balconies. Nobody has access to the place but it's just there because of a mistake in construction. Pigeons always find a way through it, build nests and make the place shitty. so the apartment management decided to install a mesh to keep the place clean. The Mesh was installed as planned. It was all good for more than a month and to my surprise, a poor pigeon somehow managed to get in through a small opening in the mesh and she couldn't find a way to go out. She was trying all the possible ways to get out of the place, But she couldn't. On the first day, she tried to get out of it with all her capacity. On the second day, she still tried but now she realised that she trapped herself. Many people in the apartment saw this and were hoping for her to find the opening and fly out. Meanwhile, all of us started to provide food and water to make sure that she is not starving herself. Food was provided in abundance. It was the third day and we all could hardly see her. she was hiding in a corner and looked very very dull. its afternoon and hasn't moved an inch from her place. I thought probably she is feeling sick and threw some rice grains. She dint Budge. She did not eat a single grain. i came back after 2 hours to see how she is doing. she was till there not moving. she is not asleep. she is awake, I could see her eyes blinking.
I realised that she is not weak, but she is hopeless and worried about her life. Probably she is also missing her loved ones. Probably she is missing her family and kids who might be waiting for her to bring food. It's been three days since she didn't see her kids. She probably is worried about the life of her kids too. It was very painful to see her in that situation.
Food and water were given in abundance for her existence. she can logically live a happy, comfortable life here. But instead, she was sitting there all worried and is wanting to live a life of challenges, where she will have to hunt and fly miles for her daily needs.
This made me think of us humans, who often tend to think that having abundant money and a life of comforts will make our lives easy and happy. But in reality, we may feel caged and trapped like this poor bird. The biggest necessity for any living being is not the money and comforts but the luxury of having someone to talk to, being there with the loved ones, and being able to do whatever the heart wants to do. Richness and luxuries may not necessarily give the freedom that our struggles give. Sometimes, struggles are a blessing too. :)
PS: The Bird was rescued by the watchman and she flew high into the sky with broken yet stronger wings :)
